Dance of Gemini

The dance I have written embodies the positive, clever and playful aspects of Gemini.

Strap into you dance belts lovelies!

My Mercury and Mars are both in Gemini in addition to the fact that I was born very near to the Gemini / Cancer cusp. Some of my best friends are Gemini’s. In many ways they are like a breath of fresh air as conversational companions and life long ally’s.

Gemini season begins on May 21, a day that ushers in the heat and electricity of summer and brings us right up to the Midsummer Solstice peak of the year. Gemini is accordingly excellent at guiding change and transformation. These curious twins are terrific pioneers, using their energy to spearhead innovative creative projects. A fearless thinker, Gemini is always down to try something new. Both Gemini and Virgo are governed by Mercury, the messenger planet of communication. Despite sharing a planetary ruler, however, these two signs are opposite in their approaches: Gemini expresses emotions externally, whereas Virgo processes internally. Gemini is all about output, so these twins love to chat and often speak with their hands (which happens to be the body part associated with Gemini). Communication is paramount for them, and they require fluent streams of transmission.

In Babylonian astronomy, the stars Pollux and Castor were known as the Great Twins. Their names were Lugal-irra and Meslamta-ea, meaning “The Mighty King” and “The One who has arisen from the Underworld”. In Greek mythology, Gemini is associated with the myth of Castor and Pollux. Pollux was the son of Zeus, who seduced Leda, while Castor was the son of Tyndareus, the king of Sparta and Leda’s husband. When Castor died, because he was a mortal, Pollux begged his father Zeus to give Castor immortality, which was done through uniting them together in the heavens.

Appropriately symbolized by the celestial twins, this air sign was interested in so many pursuits that it had to double itself. Playful and intellectually curious, Gemini is constantly juggling a variety of passions, hobbies, careers, and friend groups. They are the social butterflies of the zodiac: These quick-witted twins’ superpower is that they can talk to anyone about anything.

Geminis are very intelligent and pick up knowledge quickly. They are perceptive, analytical, and often very funny. They have an unreserved and childlike curiosity, always asking new questions. They are great communicators, very responsive and sensitive listeners. Geminis are versatile, comfortable being both introverts and extroverts.

I’m excited to share what I’ve concocted in their honor.
